Someone near you says: "We shouldn't spent money on space exploration, that money could be used better on earth."

What do you do?

Honestly I don't care about space exploration. We have more important problems to solve here. NASA is basically just for funsies. The space exploration part anyway. It's can't justify spending billions on exploring the moon when Detroit is as shitty as it is also considering how much aid we give to other countries.

That would cost so much more than rebuilding it here. Who cares about setting up colonies and shit on Mars right now? There's no good reason.

What about the ever growing population. New generations also need food, water and shelter. And the world is running out of resources.

Tbh, everything we do is vain. So why not waste some money on something awesome.

The possiblity of working in aerospeace engineering is the only thing keeping me motivated in college. It's one of the few things I find exciting.

What is humanity without dreams?
Better suffer here a bit in the expense of space exploration.

>Won't it be embarrassing when an alien race visits earth and we haven't been on any planet but ours in the very solar system we are in?
what a bad argument. The idea of maybe being embarrassed by a hypothetical alien race visiting us, won't motivate anyone to fund space travel.

You agree with them because it's fucking true that it's a gigantic waste of money. That is unless it's for asteroid mining, which is the only thing we should be focused on right now. Other projects are better done after we've used an economical approach to get our foot in the door.

Think money, people. It always comes down to money.

Very little is spent on space exploration to begin with. More should be spent. There are plenty of other stupid fucking things that people are allocating money for. So many individuals that waste their money on lottery tickets, heavily taxed cigarettes, etc. Do they really have any right to complain about 0.5% of the federal budget being spent on NASA?

Doesn't matter if it is plateauing. It needs to decline. We are still overpopulated as fuck.

With that being said the money being spent on space programs is still pennies in the grand scheme of things. When the time comes there will be 3 possible scenarios: a) world powers wage war over resources. B) the majority of the world comes together and dumps all our money into preserving the human race on earth. C) the majority of the world comes together and dumps money into preserving the human race in space.
