Scientifically the future can't be predicted due to uncertainty, for example the more accurately you know the location of a particle, the less accurately you know the speed. Therefore the future cannot be fixed because of these uncertainties. So in a sense, we are creating parallel universes through conscious thought in much the same way a dog does when it shits.
