Any seniors or graduates who took AP's any year which do you think?

I graduated and took both AP Physics and AP Chemistry exams last week

I felt like Physics I & II were much easier than Chemistry, surprisingly which was still a joke of an exam for the amount of work we had to do
Which do you think was harder conceptually or time consumingly?

>> No.7254205

To be honest, both AP Physics and Chemistry were incredibly easy. It's just that the teachers often suck ass at teaching.

I took AP Chem my junior year and I loved my teacher, and his enthusiasm masked the fact that I didn't really learn that much, which was shown by the fact that my class scored mainly 1s and 2s on the exam. My school also doesn't offer AP Physics and I really wish it did because Physics honors was an absolute joke. Honestly, it seems like every AP class I've taken has been pretty easy, what AP classes are supposed to be the most difficult ones?

>> No.7254237

AP phys, lang, and lit/comp

>> No.7254240

>>7254235
Well the difficulty of the class depends on the school obviously, BC, Chem, Physics can all be pretty hard at top schools ofc. These are also considered the most difficult exams, although the exams are pretty easy by any real standard despite certain schools' classes on these subjects being more difficult. (I.e. in class tests will rek u but the AP exam is a fucking joke) My Chem class was like that, tests curved from averages around 60% with lots of studying, our teacher blew us the fuck out and then nobody studied for the AP exam and we had like 90% 5's

>>7254235
The AP physics C test this year was pretty difficult based on what I've heard, although the real reason this test is at all challenging is the time limit. It's also not hard to get a 5, what's difficult is to get any good percentage, maybe 90%+ points in the short time

>I loved my teacher, and his enthusiasm masked the fact that I didn't really learn that much
this is literally the same situation with my physics and calc teacher. I love him, but it's a struggle to maintain even a B in either of his classes, mainly because his exams/quizzes in both completely over represent how much the class has learned (highest grade in his calc class is a 94% and the second highest is 8% below that)

>>7254241
Yeah the hard part is definitely the time constraint. I took it today and was fine on all the questions I actually had time to answer.

He is probably testing you at the level of the AP exams even though he might not be able to teach you at that level.

Don't trust a HS teacher for calc. If you take calc in high school supplement it with independent studies through high quality books or video lectures like the MIT ones.

I learned that lesson right before the last exam before the practice AP test (our semester final) and got my first A on one of his exams (got mid-high Bs on every other one)

Yeah this, I wish the class was just more rigorous but so many people in my class had no idea how to do calc so that wasn't really an option

I learned after my first test.
>In Calc AB
>First test, get a D on it. (My D is the highest grade in the class)
>Realize teacher is shit.
>Proceed to study calc through MIT course
>Get As for the rest of the year
>MlT course covers AB & BC
>Take BC test instead of AB test b/c why not
>Get 5

Just say you obtained a better education than the shit the school offers and therefore are qualified to take a more advanced test.

see this seems like it would just make them really pissy and just provide more reason to not let you take the test, because you're a prick

It was a contract I signed at the beginning of the year, saying that I had to take the AB test since I took the course, and I would've taken the BC test if they didn't happen simultaneously. I'm not that mad though, I mean I still got a 5 on the AB test and if I got a 5 on the BC test I still would've taken Calculus I&II honors at my uni because it was a much more rigorous program than my high school program

>> No.7254362

>>7254354
Because the school doesn't make the rules, Collegeboard does. You pay them to take tests. The more tests you take, the more money they get. 3 of the AP tests I took were for classes not offered at my school.

>> No.7254379

Took AP Physics today. If I had an extra 10 minutes I think I would have felt a lot more comfortable. Everything I got a chance to actually look at I felt comfortable with, but wasn't able to check over what I wanted to.

Also had Psych last week and Stats Wednesday. Those you can be completely brain-dead and get a 5 on.

Although I did destroy the last two frqs, except for that air resistance part.
