Roughly how many faces are there in this image?

Lets assume cut off faces count as a full one.

You're a big theorem.

if each pixel is a face then there would be 3000x3000 faces or 9000000
but some of the faces take up more than 1 pixel, the face in the lower left takes up almost a quarter a the picture space 1500x1500 or about 2250000 of the 9000000 pixels.
given the limited resolution of the photo my rough estimate to how many faces are in this photo is about 300000 faces

here I reduced the image to a single element
now use Image J or some other program to count the elements
that should be you answer, or at least very very close given you are too lazy to count it yourself.

Now please go away I am trying to gain a better understanding of the Seebeck effect and this shit is distracting

define roughly
define faces
define image
define cut off
define full one

>> No.7247349

The upper bound is the pixel count of the image. But its really only the upper right corner that could be that dense.

In GIMP it goes something like
color selector (purple), invert selection, clear/delete

look up Microscopy and crystal counting tools,

this is an image recognition problem and people have made software to do this stuff, although the boundaries are not well defined so I recommend trying to count a sub element you can more easily isolate like the purple shoulder.

I used GIMP and Image J, because they are free but there are other ones I am less familiar with. I am sure some Photoshop wizard could also do it give the artist and scientist tool set are so similar, after all GIMP is an artist tool.
