hey /sci/ I don't understand this.

How does that step in the pic happen? How do you get "h" out of the square root like that?

>> No.7133952

You factor out h^2 from every term under the root. NB need assumption that h >0

You can accomplish this with something called "Algebra." You can read more about it here.

>> No.7133962

Trick question, they don't specify where h nor r is.

>> No.7133974

>>7133952
My math vocabulary sucks, but with factor out you mean take a common multiplier? As in 6x + 12y = 6(x + 2y). I still don't get how you can do that since there is no "h" in r^2 term...

In my years of mathematics I have never seen this happen where you can take a common multiplier if one term doesn't have this before mentioned common multiplier.

But it would be sqr[h^2(1 + (r^2/h^2)] and then I just take square root from the h^2 and it becomes h.

So I can just divide every term with the "common multiplier" and that works? I wonder why the fuck they call it a "common multiplier" here, if it doesn't need to be common.

Factoring out the h^2. Try and multiply the h back into the root of the 2nd equation and you get the 1st equation.

Why did everybody flip their shit about this?

I'm actually pretty good in math, I understand numbers easily.

But this shit has never been taught in my education history, in other words, I am at early level calculus and I have not yet seen this shit.

Checked from wikipedia what calculus actually consists of:
Differential [done]
Integral [done]
Series [done]
Vector[done]
Multivariable [not done]
Specialized [seems like I have done these too even though I have never heard those names]
(Fractional Malliavin Stochastic Variations)

I have done the basics of calculus, yet I have never fucking seen this kind of solution, ever. It isn't taught at least below university level mathematics in my country (inb4 shit country).

This is the first time I see this shit and you niggers go ape shit, I bet I would style on you newfags on math even though I just started doing this shit (I started studying math fo' real because I found out how good I am at it).

So eat shit baboons, you niggas & your board gay. Instead of trying to explain, you just throw ape shit at everybody. Implications...

Please bear in mind, sqrt(h^2) = h IFF h≥0

Why can we perform the operation in the OP's pic? Because in the limit, h is going to positive infinity and is therefore greater than zero.
