Had a really interesting conversation with a businessman last night where he explained to me how he was convinced that there is a God.

He said that the universe is so unimaginably vast, that you require black holes to travel across them. In addition, the nature of the black holes forbids us humans from entering it in our form, so it requires a being that can freely change himself/itself into a spiritual state at will in order to travel through black holes - and the only being that can do that would be someone like God.

And yes he believes in Aliens and that God is an alien.

Thoughts?

Is he actually good at doing business?

The existence of God cannot be proved, don't waste your time arguing. We also can't directly observe events of the past, we are left trying to put small amounts of information to make assumptions at larger points. In the vastness of the universe its reasonable to assume there is life, but whether or not it has or is capable of visiting Earth is rather unknown.

My advice to you is, worry about your own beliefs and how they shape your understanding of the world. If you get caught up on every person's perspective of the universe, you might end up very wise, but you won't get much done.

We won't need black holes, only warp gates once the Emperor of Mankind reveals himself.

This is so not a conclusion, like if you can reason like that than I can say "the reason my grades are shit is cause teachers wear pants and pants are illegal in japan" like no actual facts

Can we make the word god autoban on /sci/?

There's nothing to lose, plus then we won't have to hear the term "God particle" when talking about the higgs boson.

I'd rather not - numerous religious people would use science to "prove" the existence of God, and can go overwhelmingly detailed about it like William Lane Craig and Depak Chopra - I think it is worthy to discuss topics like these so we, as a community, can sift through both the good and bad information.

The rules state that there should be no Atheism vs. Religion. It's okay to talk about God in theory as long as you don't invoke any adversarial notions along with it.

For example, I don't believe in God, but I respect those who might use the concept of theism or deism as an incentive to find out how the universe works. Believe it or not, religious people can successfully contribute to the scientific method as well.

If "god" is perfect he would be nothing close to being human, because humans are so imperfect, so maybe one day when we reach perfection we will become god.

being able to travel through space implies having energy or mass..

which means science can prove god exists... which you know wont be the case.

Allah, Jehovah, Yahweh, Your God, Santa, the Easter bunny are all fiction made as a kind of control.. "Be good and you get this, the powers that be said so".. so you become more putty in "the man's" hands from being conditioned to follow order.

Also trying to imagine something that understands that it exists and has willpower that can create something like the universe is frightfully self absorbed and delirious. All because we have these sensory powers doesnt mean something thats greater than the universe does. Faggots.
