It's so stupidly simple to prove that E = mc2.

mc2 = kg * m2/s2 = kgm2/s2 = E since kgm2/s2 is joules which is energy

Why did it take centuries for people to realize this, or is it just one of those overhyped equations that just show up on TV because they're cool and people recognize it? My IQ is 122 but this seems like a really easy problem to solve

that proves nothing

Uh it just proved that mc^2 is energy?

no it didn't, all that is is confirming the dimensions are correct. piss off shit troll

Have you ever seen a real proof of E=mc^2?
Better question, have you ever seen a real mathematical proof?

The action has units of Energy*Time which is angular momentum therefore S = L.

Go fuck yourself.

The tricky part comes when you need to determine the eventual constants and identify what it means in real life.

Why didn't they just measure the energy of an object which weighed 1kg and an object that weighed 2kg and so on until they realized that the constant is 1? I'm just a high school student but it seems to me that the history of physics is full of incompetent scientists, or is it just that hindsight is 20/20?

So I guess Change in Enthalpy is also equal to mc2 since the dimensions match up.

Well maybe, how do you know? Have you researched it? Maybe you just need to find the right constant to scale it?

This is a terrible analogy since the mass lost or gained in chemical reactions is in fact mc^2

The pressure of air inside a balloon is equal to the mass of the balloon multiplied by acceleration due to gravity divided by the radius of the balloon squared. The units match up so clearly there is a link. Maybe I just need to find the right constant...

When you burn coal the products weigh less than the coal and oxygen. The energy, which comes from the change in enthalpy, is equal to mc^2.

I hope these people are metatrolling.

Are there really people on sci that think that chemical reactions preserve mass?
