Dear colleagues.

I call upon the most talents of you in organic chemistry to help with my undergrad total synthesis.

I need to modify the alpha-carbon of glycine.

I understand that i can either generate an imminium or enolate and react its with a nucleophile or electrophile to form the C-C bond in the alpha position.

I would appreciate if someone answered me.

-academic term for alpha-carbon fictionalization of amino acids.
- some literature on the subject.
- name of the reaction that accomplishes this.
- any useful suggestions how to form the intermediate.

Thank you anon.

Never mind, I'm a dumb ass and don't actually need it for my total synthesis; i transcribed the molecule incorrectly.

But for shits and giggles, i would like an answer still :)

Your curved arrows are going the wrong direction.

People have been making amino acids for a long long time
