what if I am in outer space but I'm 1cm too far away to grab my space ship door handle.

is there any way to get 1cm closer?

Take something you have with you and throw it on the opposite direction.

Just fart. It's not like anybody will hear you.

Pee in the opposite direction of your target.

this, throw off your spacesuit and hope you'll get air in time

or poop, take the poop and throw the poop in that direction

How? Really really slowly. But there's also no friction so it might be enough for 1 cm.

where does the force come from?

Brush your hands against the suit instead, you'll ablate tiny amounts of materials.
Or pull off your glove and throw it away.

Yes, you use your SAFER
>SAFER is like a life jacket. Spacewalkers working on the space station wear SAFER. Astronauts are usually connected to the station by a tether. If an astronaut should become untethered and float away, SAFER would help her or him fly back to the station. SAFER is worn like a backpack. It uses small nitrogen-jet thrusters to let an astronaut move around in space. Astronauts can control SAFER with a small joystick.

Or you can throw away one of several peripherals that you have. Like the wrist mirror or checklist.

Put more mass on the lower part of your body
Although your center of mass is at the same position, you can reach further with your hands

>> No.7041520 [DELETED]

Release a poop from your anus and you'll go in the opposite direction the poop goes.
I'll have been telling NASA to make the butt of the spaceship mechanical so you can easily open since 1998, but they just won't listen!

Throw something in the opposite direction of the door, hard.

If you can't throw something try and shift your center of mass in a direction so that it would bring your arm a bit closer to the door. Curl up into a ball, swing your legs, move your other other arm away from the door, anything you can.

If that doesn't work then god speed ;_;7

Would the cat maneuver let you be able to reorient yourself in free space?

bend over, your arms are now substantially closer to the door
