I just saw this and can't figure out why this is bullshit. Please help. (Pic. related.)

To turn the cogs in a generator to generate power, you must first overcome a certain degree of resistance, must generate an excess of kinetic energy. the balls would not have enough lift via buoyancy to turn any of the wheels.

Thanks, I often forget things like friction, that are not obvious at the first sight.

well obviously you jump start it since dynamic friction is less than static

>friction

lolno, that's not why. It's not like it would work if we could just use enough lube.

The real reason is that the force needed to push the ball into the bottom of the tank is greater (and will always be greater) than the force of the combined weight of left balls and buoyancy of right balls. Specifically, it will be the equal to the weight of a column of water with height equal to the depth of the tank and cross section equal to a ball.

This is the right answer. The work required to pull an air-filled balloon in from below is as much as you get from removing one from the top. The real machine wouldn't be able to pull in the balloon from the bottom so it would stop when it got there.

Friction is a red herring: it goes to violations of the 2nd law of thermodynamics, but the machine supposedly violates the first. If the machine would generate net work without friction, all you'd have to do is diminish friction sufficiently and you'd get infinite free energy.

this post right here. Friction is never the answer to all the free energy machines. It's the answer to perpetual motion.

Ya'll niggas talking bout free energy?

Anyone else see that the guy behind PES the free energy wiki came out as a pedophile? Should I make a thread about it for keks?
