I can answer the questions without the need for sciencedirect. It depends on the age of the patient. The older the patient, the more lasting the damage. The older patients are, the more likely they are to die and suffer permanent mental difficulties for the rest of their life. Younger people may experience these same symptoms, but most likely not as long as their older counterparts, depending on the severity of their deep vein thrombosis. And of course it all depends upon what part of the brain is affected. This is why strokes are so far-reaching: they can affect every single facet of our brain or only one.
