Can anyone explain how this GPA works? I'm not from USA and in my country our grades are numerical (Not A, B, C, D or F ) and from 1 to 10.

>> No.6961792

The good news is that marks in freshman courses aren't really important and you still could end up with a really high GPA.

The bad news is that if you're struggling this much in your first semester, it's not going to get any easier.

I played video games and drank beer instead of studying and didn't sleep for a week during exams to catch up

I have no clue what I'm doing wrong

It's 0 to 4
A = 4
A- = 3.66
B+ = 3.33
B = 3
etc., down to 0 for F

Wait, if you count from A to F to reach 1 but if you go from F to A, you get 0.99...

Joking aside, which numerical grade is the division between fail and not fail?

Can you translate the HD, D, C and P system into US GPA?

HD = 7
D = 6
C = 5
P = 4
F = 1.5

Not necessarily true.
Especially considering OP seems to have been a mid year entrant.

depends on the program, generally a C- or 1.7 is the cutoff but for some like grad school you have to get at least a B- in every class which is 2.7

Samefag here.
Just found this:
http://www.foreigncredits.com/Resources/GPA-Calculator/
Turns out I got a 3.68 US GPA, is that good?

>> No.6961850

>>6961832

That's very close to mine, 3.67, and though it's not the best I think its pretty good.

Is the "average" in GPA arithmetic or geometric mean? Or RMS or harmonic mean?
Or the name of that limit when you infinitely apply each of these means

According to that my grades translate to a GPA of 4.0 (finished BSc, Physics). Apparently your grading system is pretty lax.

Apparently ur mum's vag is pretty lax

>join frat
>ignore classes
>get put on probation
>end up with 1.6 GPA
>thrown out of school
>appeal the decision
>allowed back in
>average 3.7 semester GPA after that
>cumulative GPA is currently 2.9

I know I still have a lot to go, but I'm hoping I'll have a nice little redemption story to go along with my ME degree
