I'm reading The Myth of Sisyphus by Camus now, and I'm liking it. I'm planning on reading The Rebel and some Kierkegaard afterwards. I'm open to suggestions, though.

All books from this guy. His book about free will is awesome but I like "The Moral Landscape" too. It's amazing how he employs scientific knowledge to solve ancient philosophical problems.

Because 4chan is counterculture, if tomorrow hating sam harris starts to become mainstream 4chan would start to suck his dick, i fucking guarantee you

Because 4chan (and /lit/ in particular) is full of pseudo-intellectual fedora neckbeards who think they're deep for talking about "philosophical" topics like free will or morality with only a kindergarten level understanding of the subjects. They cannot stand the thought that Sam Harris solved these issues by applying science.

>Because 4chan is counterculture

can we have a discussion about this? It's always kinda bugged me. I think Katawa Shoujo is perhaps the example that experienced this the fastest. Before it's release and a handful of weeks after it, it was welcomed on /a/, and praised. However, because /v/ quickly took it up, it became extremely hated on /a/. An entire board sung its praises then ostracized it in probably less than a month.

Funnily, /v/ did the same shortly after as it migrated to /vg/.

There are countless other examples, Atheism being an important one.

What causes this? Is it that people are actually changing their opinions and point of view at the whim of popularity, or is it that somehow those who dislike or disagree with something popoular on 4chan are silent until it becomes too popular?
