I'd like to believe that the brain functions in a somewhat quantum mechanical way in which, for some reason or another, the probabilistic nature of microscopic phenomena translates as well into the macroscopic. Sort of like how crystals are a macroscopic representation of microscopic regularity while amorphous materials are macroscopic manifestations of isolated macroscopic regularity
