look at that color ,man.

I know we obviously ,probably, don't know anything about it's surface but just imagine being on a planet that big and it's with that color and it's that smooth

>> No.6819613

>>6819609
It's a star not a planet. The color probably means it's very, very hot.

Makes me happy knowing that physical size is uncorrelated to importance, because VY Canis Majoris is pretty big but it's never accomplished anything and has no friends, family, and has never written a book and has probably never had a girlfriend or touched a boob before.

A small guy like me just might make it.

Anybody else feel odd at times that so much complexity exists on insignificant Earth while there are these tremendously huge stars, which, admittedly probably have lot going on inside, but nothing (I think?) with the complexity of a clock or a mobile phone or something. I mean, it's no wonder those things exist on earth, we made them. And it's no wonder complex life exists here, the benifits of being a complex organism vastly outweigh the costs... It's just the contrast that strikes me, I guess. So not a religious post, so not suggesting anything supernatural anywhere. Just kind of in awe of the way complexity seems to snoball.
Maybe I'm looking at this through very naive eyes. Apologies, if so.
