That doesn't really address my question

I read that they evolved from epithelial cells, and we can see that the brain arises from the ectoderm in the fetus. I'm particularly interested in jellyfish since they seem to be the simplest organisms with nerves, and their neural nets still seem to be somewhat complex. Although I've read that sponges have action potentials despite not having neurons? What's up with that? Is anyone familiar with action potentials in unicellular organisms?

but beware, axon can get inputs too, without dendrites. and dendrites might contribute to output.
