This whole "social sciences" meme is pretty pathetic.

Why do some of the mathematicians and other "hard" scientists on this board feel the need to criticize the intellectual interests of other people?

I want to ask those who adhere to this belief of the things that make them feel so inadequate.

Because social sciences are psuedo-science. They are just ways of pushing a political agenda.

>> No.6793265

>>6793260
Because they call it "social science" instead of what it really is, "social philosophy". Same with psycho-philosophy and bio-philosophy,

There's intellectual merit in philosophy but in the end it's all people's educated opinions.

Spot the social scientist loooool

Hey why don't you go write a piece about the hegemony of the hard sciences and the internal misogyny of mathematics. I'm sure it'd be a hit on tumblr.

It's about picking shit they don't like about a subject in which they are completely ignorant and attributing those defects to the entire field so they can feel better about themselves for being uncultured.

It's like taking shit Michio Kaku says as representative of the entire field of Physics. It's pretty dumb. But this is 4chan, anyway, so who cares?

>Why do some of the mathematicians and other "hard" scientists on this board feel the need to criticize the intellectual interests of other people?

The thing is, there are some people who are so invested in religion that anything that hints of a disproof makes them shit brixx. They use this concept of "separate magisteria," the idea that there are things that cannot be examined with the scientific method, to claim that just because they have no evidence doesn't mean they're wrong.

To these people I say: If it is real, it is subject to science. Societies exist. The proper term for the sciences that examine them is "Social Sciences." If you don't think that's a real thing, you need to take your religion with you back to the farm and get off /sci/.
