Any cs-fags around? Can you explain me how my internet connection gets slower when I download stuff? Shouldn't I be able to download and browse with the same speed? How do I "use up some of my internet"? Doesn't make sense to me.

I hate this analogy but it works

if you buy a water supply that delivers 10 gallons per minute and you use 8 gallons per minute watering your garden why would you expect anything more than 2 gallons per minute when you shower?

you buy 10Mbps of download bandwidth and use 8Mbps downloading pron why would expect any more than 2Mbps to surf with?

Your internet relies on a wired connection, at the very least to your router. When you attempt to upload and download at the same time, you have data going opposite ways through the wire, which causes traffic jams and collisions. This slows down the effective speed of either.
