Question: why couldn't he find someone who's actually competent?

because he hired them with only reading their applications. you can't judge if someone is a good janitor based on that.

Moot does have this weird way of deciding janitors.
He gets sent emails from people applying for a janitor application and if moot or mod is satisfied then they take them as a Janitor.

This results in a hoard of butthurt, child like idiots with a janitor place shitting up boards for about a month, then the mods have to take away the crappy janitors which takes a lot of time and effort.
It's relatively effective but results in needless damage and effort.

I think moderators should pick quality posters and contributors as janitors if they stand out.
