sci i dont fuckinf get this simple trig questio becausw im fucking retarded

"A tunnell is being dug through a hill. Ventilation shafts must be plaxed every 70 m from the entrance to the tunnel. on one side, the hill climbs steadily upward at an angle of 30 deg. The hill is steeper on the other side, which has a slope of 40 deg. The top of the hill is 300m high.

a) How many shafts must be drilled?

b) Special currogated metal pipes are used to line the shaft. These pipes come in 5 m sections. How many sections should the builder order?"

pls somebody draw a diagram in ms paint and explain

Get out of here, homeworkfag.

1. No homework on /sci/
2. it is basic trigonometry, basic side length/ angle ratios, all that good stuff. Just have to visualise it in your head, doodle a quick diagram on some paper and it should be some easy shite.

OP are you old enough to post on 4chan?

oooh I see. thank you.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a homework/study board. I've had to ask for math help a few times, and I went to /r9k/ or even /b/ and they were super helpful if you can show you've tried first.

for part B does OP have to create 12 triangles within those two triangles, calculate height and then calculate how many are needed from that?

>>6606825
You don't need to pretend to not be OP.

Once you've worked out X and divided it by 70 to get how many shafts you need, then yeah I'd probably make each vertical shaft a new triangle and just tally up all the heights and then divide the sum by 5 to get the number of pipes. You're on the right track.

I've gotta ask OP, when they're teaching you this intro Trig stuff, are they just saying "Just use SOHCAHTOA" or are they really explaining the unit circle from the ground up?

>> No.6606837

>>6606831
well i'm totally not op i just happen to be in his class i swear don't ban me, ban op not me

>> No.6606841

>>6606836
They're pretty much just like USE SOHCAHTOA and then they explain the unit circle later, they might not even call it a unit circle, or they man even explain it in a later grade, it's total arse.

>USE SOHCAHTOA and then they explain the unit circle later

That is retarded. I did this back in 2000/1 and they never introduced the unit circle at all, so trig inherently never made any sense. Started doing a BSc last year and my math unit floored me until I got onto that, and then it all fell into place.
