If you were to take the entire human population of Earth, all 6/7 billions of them, and put them shoulder to shoulder in one location.

How much space would you require and how much space would you require to give them enough livable breathing room while still condensing them?

You can get somw insight here:

But it doesn't answer all your questions.

So if alien beings wanted to take over the Earth without exterminating the human race.

Could they perhaps use the city of Los Angeles as a containment prison for the whole human population of the planet?

Me too ^^
They would fit in LA, like >>6560495 said.

Hell no, they'd need at the very least 2 or 3 times that size. That's everyone standing shoulder-shoulder, literally zero space to do anything. Even in food and water were dropped from the sky the living conditions would be so horrible that millions would die every day. Even if you doubled or tripled the size it would still be horribly cramped and disease would run rampant.

>>6560523
But that is shoulder to shoulder. Now in a scenario such as >>6560509.

I assume you can still have a livable environment for the entire population still within a small contained space?

What if they were given the entire state of California and able to construct skyscrapers like Coruscant?

>> No.6560538

>>6560530
That would be much better. Provided logistics were carefully managed I bet you could hold the world's population in that. You probably wouldn't even need a lot of super sky rises and shit. The main issue is that logistics WOULD be a nightmare, and depends on how much resources and manpower these aliens are willing to spend to keep things stable.

Could we be placed in California where the scenery is beautiful?

Texas is a utter shithole and I eagerly look forward to the day when I can afford to move away from this barren wasteland.

Wouldn't be much scenery left with 16000 people per km^2 which is comparable to Athens proper. If we assume more inefficiencies and little bit of unused lands in the mountains more reasonable number would be 20k-30k which would resemble Delhi, for comparison the most densely populated city is Manilla with around 43k

You guys are retarded. There are too many people that not even the Earth can be contained.

In Lomborg's "Skeptical Environmentalist", he says that the world population could fit within Texas at Tokyo's population density. He wrote that in 2001.

You could make a city about the size of Texas that could fit every one on the planet.

>> No.6562834

The densest non-satellite city in the USA is New York. It has a density of 27,778.7 people/square mile. For Earth's current population, rounded to 7.2 billion, this means we would need about 260,000 square miles. This is about two Germanys, or about one Texas.

Of course, New York imports a lot of its resources, so more space than that would be needed.
