Since you're into that stuff. The "March 2011 prediction" was about the earthquake that happened in China then the big one that struck Japan, which had the longer-term consequence of shutting down nuclear plants, most notably Fukushima-Daichi. The earthquake happened to go through China and then to Japan based on the close approach and subsequent departure of the comet Elenin.

More directly, it was attributed to the transit of a theoretical particle known as strange matter, which is basically what happens when a neutron star's core (or something sufficiently energetic) compresses matter enough to overcome the electromagnetic forces keeping its neutrons apart but not quite enough to keep its quarks from rearranging into a new, denser type of particle, this strange matter. It has less raw power than a microscopic black hole passing through the Earth's crust would, but it's destructive nonetheless, more like a microscopic neutron star.
