what would happen to the scientific comunity if tomorrow we find out without a glimmer of a that god exists.

god existing is now a scientific fact, what new theories do we develop around that, do we change the model of the universe? what is the scientific reaction?

Depends on which God obviously

good point, lets make things interesting
the dafault answer is the judeo christian god.

if you feel creative pick another god and develop

If the judeo christian god exists the scientific method is just wrong, the two are mutually exclusive, i would go to the church and pray

Well we can then send radio signals to him asking all unanswered questions. Solving the puzzles and fully understanding why we are here and how he created it. If he ignores us then we send nukes at him cause good old murica

Maybe they aren't mutually exclusive, but you gotta admit something is wrong with the scientific method, at it's fucking core.

If irrefutable evidence of a God presented itself tomorrow two things would happen.

Scientists would review the evidence, accept it, and adjust accordingly.

The religious would divide into groups claiming it to be the God of their religion, and groups claiming it to not be the TRUE God.

i know scientist would adjust but what would those adjustmens involve?

does quantum mechanics makes more sense now? does it make less sense? can we now be sure that the big bang happened?

The adjustments would be dependent on the nature of the God as we observe it, and any information it may present to us. It is therefore an indeterminate variable.

However the adjustments to the religious groups are determined by human nature and much more easy to speculate about.

I would guess the big three, Judaism, Christianity and Islam would begin attempting to elicit and endorsement from the God, if no such endorsement was given they would begin warring amongst themselves. If an endorsement of a single religion was given all other religions would denounce the God and claim it wasn't a God at all but instead some sort of demon, alien, or even the Anti-Christ.

>Scientists would review the evidence, accept it, and adjust accordingly.
As did this one
>The adjustments would be dependent on the nature of the God

...

>god existing is now a scientific fact
Ok
>what new theories do we develop around that
None. There is no more guessing and there are no more theories; God did it; just ask him how.

>do we change the model of the universe?
See above. Maybe you got your model of the Universe right and you can keep it. Maybe not; if not ditch it and ask God how the Universe works.

At heart this is a stupid thread. But that's to be expected any time some anon mentions religion/god on /sci/

Technically speaking we can't draw any conclusions about reality if specific entities can alter the observable laws of physics at will.

Basically science (measurement and observation) would cease to have a purpose and our lives would be in the hands of beings we could never hope to understand.

I would like to ask him why he created things we aren't allowed to do, then created us with an ability to be tempted into those things, then why he created a horrific punishment for us if we do the things he created for us to be tempted to do.

If there is a god, I imagine him as a sort of computer programmer more than a truly divine being. Most religious books are so far from scientific fact that I don't believe the god we found would be any of those gods but rather one not described in literature so far.
