Is flaying the most painful form of torture?

Ugh, that's so unsanitary.

Anything to do with bones, like bone cancer, extracting bone marrow, I would say is more painful. Flaying is pretty bad, un-anesthetised.

Just walk it off.

I would assume direct nerve stimulation would be capable of producing the most intense possible sensation, in an objective sense. There isn't really a metric to measure pain, though, as what one person might find painful another might find pleasent (see; chili peppers, masochism, politics). The mental state of the subject in question is also important; something the subject fears intensely will produce a greater response than the same stimulus may on another subject.

so, electric shock?

>> No.6434121

>>6434116
In a sense. A conventional shock wouldn't work; many victims of low-voltage high-ampere electrocution don't feel any actual pain at all, although they become extremely adverse to the sensation, while high-voltage low-ampere shocks basically just light you on fire. You'd need to find a way to induce the effect in the nerves specifically such that they transmit it, rather than using electricity to damage tissue and have them transmit the sensations of the damage.

No, see:

Two weeks of mind and body torture. Bonus points if you have any fears involving or relating to insects.

>> No.6434143

Secret police organizations nowadays prefer torture methods that don't leave evidence. I've heard of people being tortured by pulling out nose hairs one by one, ear hairs and even plucking eyebrow hairs.

Oddly enough, women do these exact same things to themselves in order to look more beautiful. So I suspect the worlds foremost authority on modern torture techniques is a beautician cosmetologist.

>> No.6434175

I have a feeling that even average mental torture can out do even the best physical torture, but it is different for everyone so it is hard to give an exact answer

I'm surprised a person could actually survive that long on just food, it seems like infection would kill them quicker than that. 17 days is a long fucking time.

although that's disgusting and scary as fuck, the body and mind has defenses to trauma like this. you have to consider the delirium that would take place, and the death which is caused by septic shock would be preceded by a mental state so withdrawn you may even be euphoric after a few days. your blood being so infested, it's likely, and you could correct me if I'm wrong, that you would experience a diverse mixture of psychedelic states from the exposure your brain would have to toxicity of your blood.

I think to be tortured thoroughly, you have to maintain a state of mental awareness. the first day or four would provide that, depending on a lot of factors, but ultimately it sounds a lot worse (and looks a lot worse) than it really is.

in all honesty, this is probably just antiquity-tier propaganda used to dehumanize their enemies.

bees and wasps dont just start stinging for no reason, and 'putrifying worms' wont appear spontaneously in his excrement, tho flies could certainly begin laying maggots. note however that most species will not lay eggs unless there is already a festering, putrid sore.

to top it all off, you would simply die of dehydration and exposure (even if they are forcing milk into you, you are shitting yourself to death) well before an insect swarm began 'devouring your rotting flesh', which in itself would mean death by sepsis at the very onset of the infestation, well before things got really nasty.

The response to this of course is 'Oh those nasty Persians, let us take up arms and march upon their fields, and cut the babes from their women's breasts.'

if they found a pond that was rich in insect life, I think it's pretty believable.

also they put lots of honey on you to attract the insects.

would extracting bone marrow really be more painful than flaying?

and what about burning?

>> No.6434806

>>6434690
Serious burns actually become painless pretty quickly, since they destroy the nerve endings along with everything else. Most third+ degree burns are only painful around the edges, where there are still nerves to be informing you that shirt is fucked up.

Injuries to bones in general are extremely painful, as your body knows that any injury that's deep enough to damage bone is Really Bad. It's also a very unique sort of pain that most people would have little to no experience with, in some ways comparable to the sensation of having a migraine, serious burn, and bruise all in the same place.

Water boarding....?

The nerves behind the eyes are the most sensitive to pain if you want something acute

>> No.6434847

Wouldn't there be a modern torture where you could just boost pain sensitivity and then give some capsaicin micro-injections all over the body.

>> No.6434867

Which is worse, physical or psychological torture?

Sure you can hurt someone till they give in, but some people can resist it. Now using fears and other responses (defending wife/child) could be much more effective.
