Now that we have modern medical science, we're quickly evolving to be dependent on it.

It used to be that half of people born would be dead before they reached breeding age. We're a few generations along now of saving all the rejects.

Mostly, this means we're going downhill as genetic garbage accumulates in the genome without being filtered out, but it will also allow new traits to emerge from mutations that increase capabilities in some way but would have been fatal without advanced medical attention.

>> No.6409447

It would take FAR longer than the length of human history and FAR more isolation from different populations than what we have had throughout that history for a significant amount of differing gene expression to branch out amongst the populations.

As a whole, humans are still more genetically homogenous than almost any other mammal. The genetic differences between Africans, Asians, and Caucasians aren't even like different breeds of dog, it's more like different fur colors on a single breed of dog.

>> No.6409480

>>6409447
Yeah. We are in too much contact with different races to ever have a extreme genetic difference between races. We still haven't found the genes that give Asians their amazing math abilities over other races, their piano prodigy gene, and the martial arts gene.

>>6409480
In modern times. Humans do have a glacial rate of speciation, but we lived in (in the extremes, say south africa to east asia to the americas to europe) for multiple thousands of years. We developed extremely distinctive aesthetics, and actually -some- nonaesthetic physical differences(no major ones though, mostly just tendencies and whos prone to what.) Its outright suprising how low the rate of divergence is that we didnt have any significant differences in the mind, at we can tell from current data.

It's a bit of both worlds really, natural selection/evolution hasn't stopped for humankind, but it has gotten toned down a lot.

If you have 10 patients getting hospitalized for pneumonia and they all receive equal medical care, some of them will survive while others don't, because some have a stronger genetic foundation.

Natural selection will never stop, all it may become is negligible.

There's a difference between finding it fun to adopt a more traditionally masculine character for the purposes of entertainment, and "pretending to be a guy".
>Wouldn't that make her attracted to guys and therefore straight?
No. It would make her attracted to feminine persons, regardless of what they happen to be wearing. She's not attracted to masculine features, just like you probably aren't into hairy legs and facial hair.
>But then she also says she doesn't like guys which makes no sense.
It makes perfect sense, you're just stuck in a framework that doesn't capture the entirety of human sexuality.

You see her as something to attain and use for sexual gratification, instead of an individual who apparently already has a partner. So you don't.

>It would take FAR longer than the length of human history and FAR more isolation from different populations than what we have had throughout that history for a significant amount of differing gene expression to branch out amongst the populations.
How about a million or more years worth of evolution then?

>selection has accelerated greatly during the last 40,000 years
>the Neolithic and later periods would have experienced a rate of adaptive evolution >100 times higher than characterized most of human evolution
>The rate of adaptive evolution in human populations has indeed accelerated within the past 80,000 years. The results above demonstrate the extent of acceleration: the recent rate must be one to two orders of magnitude higher than the long-term rate to explain the genomewide pattern.

That's simply retarded. Troll?

>Human migrations into Eurasia created new selective pressures on features such as skin pigmentation, adaptation to cold, and diet (25, 26, 28). Over this time span, humans both inside and outside of Africa underwent rapid skeletal evolution (48, 49). ...

>We still haven't found the genes that give Asians their amazing math abilities over other races
Some of the genes that give Asians and Whites higher intelligence/IQ have been found actually:

>Frequencies of 10 SNPs found to be associated with educational attainment in a recent genome-wide association study were obtained from HapMap, 1000 Genomes and ALFRED. Factor analysis showed that they are strongly statistically associated at the population level, and the resulting factor score was highly related to average population IQ (r=0.90).

>Two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) whose associations with intelligence seem to be robust because they have been replicated in several independent studies were chosen as representative of intelligence increasing alleles.

>The first is rs236330, located within gene FNBP1L, whose significant association with general intelligence has been reported in two separate studies (Davies et al, 2011; Benyamin et al, 2013). This gene is strongly expressed in neurons, including. hippocampal neurons and developing brains, where it regulates neuronal morphology (Davies et al, 2011).

>The second SNP is rs324650. It was included because its association with IQ has been replicated in four association studies (Comings et al, 2003; Dick et al, 2007; Gosso et al, 2006, 2007). This SNP is located in the gene CHRM2 (cholinergic receptor, muscarinic #2), which is involved in neuronal excitability, synaptic plasticity and feedback regulation of acetylcholine release.

>East Asian populations (Japanese, Chinese) have the highest average frequency of beneficial alleles (39%), followed by Europeans (35.5%) and sub-Saharan Africans (16.4%).

The results seem consistent enough with observed race difference in IQ.
