If someone was born with more than two arms, what's the likely hood of them being able to control them in a useful manner?

Having more than two arms could be an asset in some areas, such as music production.

I'd pay to watch a skilled boxer with three arms.

My geneticist (I have extra fingers) implied that most of these extra digits, extra limbs, etc. are weaker than their correlates in the normal state. Mother nature (God's bit-on-the-side) has evolved a pretty nifty but fragile and complicated ball-and-socket system - sticking an extra arm on your chest isn't going to make you a great baseball player any more than my polydactly has made me a great pianist.

well shit. i have to admit i have never thought of this even though it is painfully obvious.

this kid with 3 arms is very unlikely to also have a fully functional joint, tendons and all this shit for its extra arm. therefore having any extra limps will will be just a disadvantage > 99,9% of the time.
