sounds like you need to define "natural".

Salt is harvested from the sea by unnatural means, or taken up from the ground by unnatural means. It's never just found lying around growing on a tree - it's a fricken rock.

But ok, what about Aspirin? we create that from raw chemicals. We generally don't harvest it anymore.

But if that's not unnatural for you enough, then we really should rephrase the statement to be more clear.

There are no man-made chemicals, which don't also occur in nature, that are known to be healthy to ingjest for an already healthy individual. And that's not really a natural-unatural statement, that's a statement on the limits of our knowledge in chemistry and health in healthy individuals.

And yeah, that's true. We have relativley little idea what various chemicals (including all natural ones in all foods) do.

You're wrong on both accounts.

Yeah, I know, it was a wrong definition. But he was at least right in saying that fossil fuels release CO2. More than what you can say about a lot of people.

Salt does melt ice...That's why they pour it on icy roads in the winter. It doesn't do it directly. The salt dissolves in the watery layer atop the ice, which in turn melts the icy layer underneath. I'd look it up on youtube but apparently it's a huge fad to burn yourself with salt and ice like a goddamn idiot.

It does not directly dissolve the ice. It may stop the water on top from freezing which in turn insulates the ice underneath, but it does not just melt ice. That would require energy and unless the salt itself it really hot, it would have to be radioactive to just directly melt ice.

He said ONLY fossil fuels release CO2.

I think we're pulling hairs here.

I notice your coffee response, much in the same to the ice question, it doesn't DIRECTLY dehydrate you like alcohol does.

Just admit it. You're averagely less intelligent and that's clearly visible in society and history and even purely biological. It's not 'that' much of a difference, but it's there. Every race has it's own biological advantages and disadvantages and one biological disadvantages of the negroid/congoid race is mathematical thinking. Whites outperform Blacks in intelligence. Blacks outperform Whites physically. All of this makes perfect evolutionary sense and you'll have to learn to accept it some day whether you like it or not. The science doesn't care about your feelings or ideologies of equality, it's just true.

That being said; I'm not "a racist". I am white and I realize that there are many black people who are way more intelligent than I will ever be. It's just a fact that there are a lot more that aren't.

A classical normal number (or at least the first that comes to mind to me) is: 0.0123456789101112... i.e. just write 0.every natural number in sequence (I'm sorry, I don't want to think about a more formal notation, but I think it's clear). Now take that number and replace every digit with two copies of the same digit (0 -> 00, 1 -> 11, 2 -> 22...) it becomes something like 0.00112233445566778899110011111122...
Again, it could be proven more rigorously but I'm a lazy guy, anyway it should be quite clear that it is still normal, but surely enough it doesn't contain the sequence "123". Q.E.D.

>Difference between C. indica and C. sativa

Cannabis indica has a higher ratio of CBD:THC compared to Cannabis sativa.[12] Cannabis strains with relatively high CBD:THC ratios are less likely to induce anxiety than vice versa. This may be due to CBD's antagonistic effects at the cannabinoid receptors, compared to THC's partial agonist effect. CBD is also a 5-HT1A receptor (serotonin) agonist, which may also contribute to an anxiolytic-content effect.[13] This likely means the high concentrations of CBD found in Cannabis indica mitigate the anxiogenic effect of THC significantly.[13] The effects of sativa are well known for its cerebral high, hence used daytime as medical cannabis, while indica is well known for its sedative effects which some prefer for night time use.[13] Indica plants are normally shorter and stockier plants than sativas. They have wide, deeply serrated leaves and a compact and dense flower cluster. The effects of indicas are predominantly physical and sedative. Due to the relaxing nature of indicas, they are best used for non-active times of the day and before bed.[citation needed]
Just use indica and check that you are not schizo.

This is not necessarily true. What you could say is, if pi is a normal number (which is not proven) then given a random finite sequence it is "almost surely" true that that sequence will be somewhere in the decimal expansion.

If you pick a random finite sequence, I'm 100% sure its somewhere in pi, but to be completely rigorous you can't say this, it's not even true for normal numbers.

Yes, but it's the degree of belief that matters.
Science only needs 3 assumptions.

Assumption 1:
I assume that the phenomenon (the world as I perceive it through my senses) and nounomenon (the world as it exists) are one and the same.

Assumption 2:
I assume that the world is intelligible (that we can learn things from interacting with the world).

Assumption 3:
I assume that models with predictive capability are of more value than models without predictive capability.

Any other assumption, like "God did it" is superfluous.

I have lots of unpleasant memories of not being very good at math/mental math in pre-k through elementary school. I think those experiences may have caused me to be worse than I actually am at math.

Now that I think about it, I'm kind of glad I posted about being bad at mental math. I've realized that a few bad experiences when I was young has influenced my perception of my skills in an entire field of study.

I don't know about you, but I'm going to nurture the shit out of my kids.

Whether any native metabolites of GMOs are inherently bad, that is debatable, and I'm guessing that's where you're coming from. What you need to consider on top of what's in the GMOs is how they are used. They are made herbicide resistant for easier farming, which means that they are doused with much more herbicides than a non-GMO plant. These herbicides do not harm the plant, but can accumulate, leading increased consumption of herbicides by humans and animals that we later eat. It's the health effects of these herbicides, as well as other chemicals, that pose a very real health threat. To some extent, this threat is only now being realized, as endocrine effects are being fully appreciated.

Depends on your definition of "evolved." When a big enough, undetected asteroid hits the Earth, which one is more likely to survive?

>> No.6269968

>Depends on your definition of "evolved."
Unless we have some way to quantify evolution, I think it's sensible to say that if two organisms share an origin, they are equally evolved on the basis that anything less evolved would have died out already.

Your statement goes the opposite way of the original. CO2 release upon burning does not mean that the fuel was a fossil fuel. Even if someone means "not carbon neutral" when they say "fossil fuel", that's wrong, since, for example, wood is made with carbon from the air which is released upon burning, thus wood is carbon neutral.

Much like a 100 m dash only measures how good you are at 100 m dashes, and not general fitness, although positively correlated.
