Well, since you'd only want to use a z-table when dealing with a model which supposes a normal distribution in the errors of an underlying laten model, no you wouldn't use a z-table. But t-tables might be used if you need some quick napkin math.

Let's put it this way... if you don't know how to trivially use a z-table then you'd probably have trouble doing it any other way anyways.

I'm a pure math major anon. Doing computations isn't something we regularly do. Using Z-Tables is as antiquated as using Trigonometric tables to compute sine and cosine and shit. People should either use R, Octave, whatever their software package of choice is, or just leave it not computed.
