I went to a Snoop Dogg concert at my college and this is what he had to say:

>Yo college life is great, but I didn't even NEED it. You all trying to find the meaning of life, while I already know it: FUCK BITCHES. GET DRUNK. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, SMOKE. WEEEEEEEEEEED.

Truly, my life has never been the same since that day.

I don't know, but either way, if their wasn't life we wouldn't be here contemplating life. The anthropic principle.

I don't think life itself has some special significance in the grand scheme of things (if you look at our universe, it's just something cool that emerged out of stuff that was there already), however being alive I'm still baffled by the mystery of what it means to exist

>> No.6226295

Fair enough, I personally think it's the first one. But that's because I disagree with you and think life has special properties.

>> No.6226303

>>6226295
It could be both.
It could be argued that without entities experiencing it, a universe does not actually exist. The fact that we exist and experience life has deep metaphysical implications like that. It's all weird stuff, I'm trying to read up on it but it's too vague for google to come up with anything meaningful.

I find this very interesting:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_universe_hypothesis
The notion that the universe may be nothing other than a mathematical structure, that any mathematical structure may be a universe, etc.

>The concept of accepting that life is meaningless, and still live it that way seems, well, absurd. So let us delve a little bit more into what Camus is actually saying. When he talks about “a total absence of hope,” he means hope of finding some rational explanation to life, the universe, and everything. There is no master plan, no fate, you are not “destined” to do something concrete. It is like we are on vacation. Questions such as "why are we here" are the equivalent of going to the North Pole and asking where is north. There is no why, we simply are. We have to find happiness in our human experiences and not in things beyond such as faith or hope. In a sense, embracing the absurd frees us. Take Quantum Mechanics and Einstein for example. In a discussion with Neils Bohr over the validity of Quantum Mechanics, Einstein argued that "God does not play dice." He thought the universe was deterministic (that it is possible to have perfect knowledge of the physics controlling an event). Bohr believed that at the quantum level, the universe was random and unpredictable (that the best we could do is assign a probability to a given event). This rationale did not fit the perfect knowledge required by Einstein, so he spent the rest of his days enslaved, trying to fit sense into the senseless, while the rest of the world moved on. Needless to say, Einstein was wrong.

Here are several meanings to life based on your perception of its meaning.

Humanistic: To help others and humanity is the meaning behind your life.

Biological: To procreate, to make life.

Existential: To observe and understand the universe which birthed everything and everyone.

The meaning of all life is to learn, gain wisdom and move to higher planes of existence, to ultimatly reach the same wisdom of the creator himself
