Poland here. economics and law are the two most popular degrees among our dish-washing migrants.

I always thought of it being on par with physics and math. It uses the same calculus.

Confirmed economist here.

>> No.6196122

Micro economics is very respectable, empirical and has good theories. Behavioral economics is also a great field of research that is popping up.

Macro economics is extremely hard to model, extremely interesting and insanely complex. It puts anything in Physics to shame in terms of complexity and strangeness. It's still in its infancy but we are getting a better idea of what's going on.

Here is a good interview with a physicist/statistician talkin about Economics as a science and how it should be improved.

And working in EE is something I like.

If you are going to study economics you really need to pile on the extra-curriculars.

It has the potential to be lucrative but there are few corporations with a position open specifically waiting for an economics graduate, many graduates will need some professional qualification to compete in the job market and will work as an actuary or accountant for a while before they climb the ladder and gain responsibilities where they can use their skills and initiative. If you want to avoid simply being a pimped accountant you really need to find a niche in the market like identifying risks on the stock market or providing financial services to small businesses.
