On the subject of things being possible, I'm trying to accomplish something very probable.

I am attempting to relearn everything from basic arithmetic to modern day calculus, in a quest to orient my daily life in a mathematical direction. As a physics major, I do not intend on doing one subject, I want to become a polymath if you will...

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to recall information when finished with a textbook? (e.g. keep a reference notebook that notes the steps of your journey/progress).

Also is there a solid book that covers arithmetic to algebra to geometry to trigonometry and up to calculus? A godly reference book, as well as a self- learning resource?

Thanks and wish me luck!

i know you're all busy replying to troll threads, but im actually willing to pursue knowledge, please i need a foundational book in both math and physics (physics is a plus)

We take ourselves very seriously here..
Also /sci/ might have like 5 posters active at a time so be patient.

Also just do khan academy for all the lower math.

I'm taking beginners babby physics this semester in college. Our book is essential university physics and I suppose its ok. Its not popsci bullshit but its not "get destroyed by pure math" either.

I also found a few pdfs of complex and realzie analysis too.

khan academy is something that involves little skill and little patience. All i need is a book, i want to establish a direct relationship with my brain and the book, i dont need some third party to tell me how something is done, i want to learn by myself as i am fairly capable of doing so.

mind sharing those pdfs? Even though im not a huge ebook fan, i still have a library of 5000 books

So does lower math

>i dont need some third party to tell me how something is done, i want to learn by myself as i am fairly capable of doing so.
and yet here you are making this thread

As a physics major you have surely have already learned most of the stuff and what is left is just practice and repetition, and khan is great resource for that for lower maths.

I have a book called Schaum's Outline of Basic Mathematics. I haven't yet begun to read it, but it looks great.

this is brilliant thank you so much!

anymore recommendations of outline books such as this would be phenomenal!

you're just proving my point on the pursuit of knowledge, hence the thread.
