So /sci/ I'm going to be conducting a lab experiment this semester that has to do with testing the effects of round up on worm health via indirect contamination (we kill the plant with the round up by painting it on the leaves of the plant in the pot, and letting the plant die/rot in the soil and then weight the worms before and after.). We're using 60 pots for the control group (normal soil conditions) , and 60 pots for the round up group. We're going to be comparing the weights of the worms in each pot (5 per pot) before and after (I think ~ a 1 month duration).

Since I'm in the lab and still have a ~ 5'x4' spot on the table left over I was wondering what other things you think I could test within that area. I was thinking about testing microwaved water vs regular water in the soil (applied at same temperature of course).

TLDR:
> Got any good ideas for experiments I could do on earthworms in a controlled lab (5'x4' space).

I'd really appreciate any suggestions!

Th..Thanks.

Would love to hear some experiments I could test using earthworms and the given space.

Worms need water regularly right?
-contaminate water with pesticide
-filter through sand/however it happens in nature
-give water to worms (only the water, not the contaminated sand)

Or try to reproduce some experiment you're curious about, I dunno

Thanks for the suggestion.

Anything that stimulates a new idea or thought helps. I'm really just brainstorming here.

Actually laughed a bit.

This is definitely the scientific section of 4chan.

Could try altering light exposure, planting different veggies/fruit in the soil, varying the soil type; could blast the worms with different kinds of music for varying durations; could expose them to any range of nasty chemicals you can get your hands on (i'd be curious about red wine / sirtuins because I'm obsessed with longevity, but that's probably expensive); could introduce competitors (other types of worms or other burrowing insects); could put round-up at various levels in each pot (2 inches deep, 3 inches deep, 4 inches deep, etc.) to see if the worms avoid those layers; could drill holes in the sides of pots and allow a portal between two pots, treating one with round-up and the other with nothing to see if the worms migrate from one pot to the other; could feed them asparagus to see if their poop smells funny

Try further testing of some growth patterns for plants over centrifugal force for further inclusion of the stuff they've tested on that space station thingy. ^_^
