>IQ Test that is heavily dependant on your inclination to solve the puzzles and heavily dependant on luck since many of the solutions are arbitrary in the sense that they're often ill defined

I do admit the solutions can (most of the time) be logically deduced based on prior sections however you may be able to understand the patterns and reasoning without seeing them unless their profoundly distinct and non-ambigious. The solutions are very easy, its just a matter of being able to see them and being inclined enough to look.

A more accurate way to measure this would be to give a person a set of logic rules to apply to very simple puzzles. Using their discretion to know when or not they should be used. However, this still wouldn't be accurate but it wouldn't measure solely observation skills. In the tests I am replying too, if you understand each and every solution the only difference is that the person taking the test didn't notice the pattern.

TL;DR: You're not a fucking genius, I got above 140 too. Hell I even think I got 149 which is near to max score on the cerebrals test. (The top one the first person I am replying to did)

With most IQ tests score doesn't matter at all since it measures your inclination to find patterns, not your ability to understand them and its pretty much fucking assured that anyone can understand them since they tend to be so fucking easy.

My point being why would finding a pattern be any different from understanding it? Wouldn't the test just measure your inclination to find the pattern?

>> No.6046131 [DELETED]

>>6046130
You could easily call intelligence the inclination to do anything then. My point is if you explained it to a person articulately a person would understand almost all if not all puzzles on an IQ test. If a person is inclined to do a simple task that doesn't mean their inherently more proficient than someone who isn't inclined. Also IQ tests are usually defined as reasoning tests. You're arbitrarily calling it a searching test right now.

>>6046131
>memorizing and recognizing patterns.
Memorize: inclination to hold information
Recognition: inclination to understand an object/idea by generalizing from prior assessment of object/idea with similar traits.
>ability to just cross reference patterns across multiple sources of data, which is btw, what a lot of iq test make you do.
My point is the tests are fucking easy, they just make it convoluted so you have to find a random pattern in order to understand the very easy puzzle.

If it were solely cross referencing patterns across multiple sources of data without the obfuscation I would be more open, but MANY well accepted IQ tests out there were made by VERY stupid people who struggle to understand even basic logic and consider themselves capable of assessing the ability to reason of others.

Even if these problems we'rent so prevalent tests still wouldn't be infallibly accurate for numerous other reasons.

IQ tests correlate with lots of other things we care about like academic performance and performance in the workplace. That's why they matter.

I forgot with most normal people there is no fixation towards logic and logical thought appears to be entirely optional. I guess the people on 4chan probably would have to be considered above average. No intention of condescension here, but people in the real world think like animals who act almost solely upon instinct, people on /sci/ think like educated animals capable of mild logical thought. Intelligence has little correlation to new designs and ideas. There is a much stronger correlation between wealth and access to education with intelligence.

Look at any great figure in history. More than likely he/she is from a wealthy family and given access to whatever knowledge they needed. Even if you find 10 exceptions I can find 100 other figures from wealth.

Now of course as time went along education became more prominent but the fact remains; if you are given access to education you will change the world.

here's my assumption:
1) there are three images with a single black block, three images with two black blocks, two images with three black blocks (-> there has to be another one with three black blocks)
repeat with gray and lightgray and you'll know how many black, gray and light gray blocks there have to be
2) then there are one vertical and two horizontal ordered images in every row, so it has to be horizontal
that should be enough to find F, but..
3) the horizontal are oriented in opposite direction, so it has it's beginning on the right side
4) if you look at the images with the same orientation, you will see that they had every shading combination once

Isn't there more than 1 type?

I cannot do calculus or higher math level classes or really any fast paced work. Not due to not understanding concepts, due to having a impaired working/verbal memory and being unable to remember enough things to finish a problem to to follow the lecture at the speed of everyone else, or test like everyone else. I failed out of University. I also have limited ability to grasp abstract concepts. I don't get ambiguous things. Pair with the above, and It makes University style education impossible.

But, I can recognize where my deficiencies are and work around them. I am very gifted in the perceptual system. But my verbal and language systems are gutterslut tier.

I am very intuitive at solving problems in the world involve non-verbal skills. I am a very perceptual person.

I failed out of college, but I get paid over $250k a year under the table to be a successful Architect's " Assistant" .This means, I am actually the one who designs and creates the buildings to solve a specific set of requirements (Problems) set by the client in the most useful and aesthetic way possible that fits their general taste. And then thinking of all possible problems someone like them might have, and preparing seamless solutions into the design so they likely have no complains in the future since I thought of everything that could go wrong for them, and planned for it mid design so the end result looks fluid and the entire function matches the purpose intended with out sacrificing any eye candy or practicality/functionality. I don't have an ego really, I just have good reasoning skills so I do exactly what the client wants and I don't care about my "vision". I solve their problem. but can't deal with them. someone does it for me and tells me what the client wants, and i ask questions to the client sometimes but the Architect does the social graces.

>> No.6098202

>>6098201
I can't work with clients, do paperwork, deal with politics/drama with the city bureaucrats, or lead a team, or interact smoothly with my peers though.

It's as if I put all my STAT POINTS
>Solving practical reasoning /Perceptual Learning
Past the 20 skill limit despite the penalties getting harsher and harsher to take more points.
And put nothing into any other attribute . Then got boned leveling up.

If that makes sense for anyone who plays RPGs. Best way to describe it.
I get to do my work at home, while smoking weed and other things while perpetually intoxicated. But there's a fine line between drugs enhancing creativity/thinking speed/reducing stress (there for, enhancing cognitive performance) and impairing the above from over intoxication.

A small amount of Marijuana, amphetamine, methamphetamine, MDMA, or LSD can do wonders as a performance enhancing drug when used right. Gotta know how it effects you at what dose and what cognitive processes it enhances/hurts and when you need those specific ones for what task at hand.

I do all my work high. I certainly don't tell who I work for this. But I work best alone, with the right drug depending on what im doing.

The architect I work for spends HOURS and HOURS double checking my work and goes through it 2x4 by 2x4 then nail by nail and checks to see it's sound. He asks questions and I explain, then if i explain the reason behind what I did and we go back and forth till a solution is made. Then he tweaks it to add his 'touch ' to it. And signs it and says it was entirely his work and stamps it claiming responsibility and credit for it so it's legal. I don't have a lisence or formal education though.

Would I not be considered intelligent in my own way? Im paid well to think for intelligent educated men basically since I do it better in this specific way. But I failed out of a state college and can't even hold a job at McDonalds let alone a professional white collar job with office politics.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/9755929/IQ-tests-do-not-reflect-intelligence.html

According to this guy, IQ tests are bullshit because you need to measure at LEAST three things in order to determine someone's true intelligence: short-term memory, reasoning and verbal skills. And even then it's just an estimation.

I agree with him, the human mind is a very, very complex thing. I took an IQ test when I was 5 years old and I got 105. Fastforward to when I was about to enter college and I got 138. Isn't intelligence supposed to be a static thing?

Well, if you measure just one thing that the nervous system does and is easy to repeatably measure, even if it's not something obviously related to reaction time, what you find is that it correlates pretty well to just about everything else the nervous system does, and decently to other desirable qualities, such as health and attractiveness.

But an IQ test isn't supposed to be "measuring a single variable", a proper IQ test does normally measure reasoning ability, short-term memory, and verbal ability. Where it falls short is measuring things that take time to measure, like long-term memory (which itself has multiple dimensions). So I don't know what the deal is with this research.
