If you lose a body part how does your blood flow work?

I mean lets say you lose a leg, it gets closed up. How does the blood that was suppose to go down your leg get back up now that the circuit is broken?

omg I read a really awesome thread on a certain website that 4chan hates.
Check it out

>completely fucking retarded
human bodies aint like circuits, cockguzzler

blood stream fans out from the aorta, to smaller arteries, to capillaries. kinda like rivers flow into smaller rivers and eventually into the delta and out to sea.
losing a body part is just like blocking one of those small rivers.
the rest of them still flow.

>>6026119
yes but the blood must pool at the blocked river exit and then back up until it hits a branch point which would seem to be unhealthy I'd thinkg

>> No.6026130

less blood will go down that artery as the blood flow is regulated by pressure not by volume

capilaries will change into venuials and arterials and complete the circut, the human body is amazing
1 in 3 pulmonary embolism patients bodies will build new vessels when their heart vessels get blocked, the most terrifying part is that blood clots can happen and kill you

that sounds pretty neat thank you

I can step in here.
Your body constitutively expresses two proteins: hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) 1-alpha and HIF-1beta. HIF-1a is usually immediately destroyed, HIF-1b is trans-located to the nucleus, where it just kind of sits around.
HIF-1a is the important molecule here. It gets degraded by von hippel lindau protein (well, tagged for degradation). To do this, it needs two cofactors: 1) oxygen, and 2) iron.
In the absence of enough oxygen, von hippel lindau protein cannot tag hif-1a for destruction. In this case, hif-1a also trans-locates to the nucleus, where it, in conjunction with hif-1b, upregulate a number of proteins, such as EPO (responsible for red blood cell synthesis) and VEG-F.
VEG-F does a whole host of things, but it's generally thought of as a major regulator of angiogenesis. In presence of VEG-F, mesenchymal stem cells will turn into an endothelial origin, and endothelial cells will spontaneously organize into tubule structures (capillaries).
We can, in fact, control this process to some degree. I use a drug called Deferoxamine, which is an iron chelator used for hemochromatosis, to bind to the iron, and "trick" the body into thinking it is hypoxic and set off this cascade of events. There is a lot of interest in using this for repairing radiation and diabetes damage.

yes, but it LOOKS like you're trying to claim it as your idea if you just put it as text.
at least a quote, or a foreword of "hey, just found this on reddit:"

seriously, you could have just posted the link.
if they're too lazy to click a link, they're too lazy to read a block of text
