Alright sci.

Science Fair, give me something to impress.
I wanted to make Mercury Fulminate from BB(powdered), but it turns out there is no practical application anymore. Let's here 'em.

so im only posting once
if you dont like it, fuck you!!

>flammable liquid in a jar, slow burn down, looks cool.

For an demonstration of a hypergolic reaction (two fluids which burst into flame as they are mixed), try mixing dimethyl mercury and dioxygen difluoride.

To really impress people, build a crude rocket motor, like Hero's steam engine.

it's not as awesome as the show
> but it turns out there is no practical application anymore.
wat.

you could make thermite :)

I did different salts and the different colors they burn and why that's useful in fireworks and stuff. If you are really smart you can talk about the energy levels and wave lengths for each and how different temperatures change color.

I like this one. Get two ice cubes of the same size. Put one on aluminum and one on black plastic. Guess which one melts first?

I'm a dynamicist so I'll always suggest gyroscopes, focault pendulums, dynamic celts, gyroscopic motion with wheels, and I think this one is cool, but I need a proper name for it:

You could do double pendulums or linked pendulums. This one completely wow'd me:

You could make a couple tracks on a Tautochrone and Brachistochrone and race marbles to everyones delight.

You could talk about minimum surfaces, functionals and the Euler-Lagrange equation with different shaped bubbles.

do something scientific, not just these displays of chemical reactions everyone does.

I would suggest a meta study on rate of lung cancer of smokers refined to length of smoking and decade they started smoking.

The observation would be that tobacco readily absorbs atmospheric radiation.

The hypothesis would be that there is a correlation between atmospheric radiation and lung cancer rates.

Even if the results are inconclusive, or disprove the hypothesis, they will be very impressed that you did actual science.

OP Here. Great Suggestions!
Really loved the metal ball one.
Keep em rolling!

Trying to use these kind of ideas and put them together into one big project.
