Hey there sci, 18 here and I love physics. Yet, I don't really enjoy math. Is this odd or normal or anything? Math is somewhat easy for me (I can still get stuck on problems) but I don't really like doing equations for the sake of doing them. When it comes to doing them in order to discover something about the universe (such as how much light makes an entire city weigh more on a sunny day) is when I become interested.

Anyway, anyone else here a lover a physics but a disliker of math? If I go into college physics is this gonna screw me over?

Yes it will screw you over since physics is applied math. If you truly love physics list us what YOU feel you would/should learn about as a first year physics major

Welcome to my club! I suck at anything more advance than basic multiplication, but I knew nuclear physics at 14.

The only way to get past the worlds desire for a piece of paper to tell them you know what your doing, is to do it yourself. Build something of real value, and sell it to the highest bidder. That's what I'm doing. I'm currently working on a generator prototype that should be able to achieve over unity fairly easily, and going to use it to build an electric motorcycle that never needs to be recharged. And next is a high voltage electromagnetic pulse projectile weapon that will have the capability for a single solder to take out a tank without high explosives. Anyone with a brain in there skull will see that the laws of conservation, among all other laws of physics are made by MAN, and the Tomahawk cold fusion reactor has already proven that nature has different ideas on the subject. That's why there having such trouble with getting it stable enough for general public use. There trying to get nature to conform to man's laws, and that's not going to happen.

Think about this. EVERYTHING we have was once considered impossible. Flight, a computer in every home, even cars. When they first started playing with internal combustion, they thought it was impossible to cool the engine effectively. Now we have cars that run so cool the heater is virtually useless without a thermostat to allow the heat to build up.

Nikola Tesla was great at math, but never really used it other than on paper. He had an uncanny gift, much like mine, where he could literally see his devices functioning in his mind. Almost like a hallucination, but I can turn mine on and off.

I was the same way. I was even bad at math. It changed once I got into more interesting stuff at a higher level and im 3/4 through a math/physics double major when in first year i started off intending to do chemistry because it didnt have much math in it. High school math is terrible and boring as fuck

Sounds like what you love is knowing interesting/nice/cool/fun facts about the universe rather than how we actually came to know these facts. Also maths are a tool for physics, if you don't like using the tool you'll run into problems sooner or later.

If you were half as smart as you claim to be you would know that despite laws of physics being made by man, for some of them no single observation has ever shown them to be wrong in the whole history of physics. And since you suck at anything more advanced than basic multiplication (and basic english) I doubt you would be the one to prove them wrong.
