Vitamin D.. does the sun produce it through sunlight?
or does your skin produce it when it is hit by sunlight?.. chemically? how does it work?

Your skin produces it when exposed to sunlight. Want proof? Check it out yourself.

i always thought your skin produces it when it is hit with sunlight. your skin cells react to it chemically aka producing the vitamin.

Cholesterol turns into Vitamin D. They are similar in make up that a slight rotation and shift of atoms will yield one or the other.

I heard Vitamin D is made in your skin oils when sun hits it, and is then absorbed by your skin. They figured this out because people who went outside a lot but showered right away when they got home were still getting Vitamin D deficiency. You need to let the oil sit on your skin a few hours after going inside to give the Vitamin D time to be absorbed.
