I do not see what the fuss is about, this is a wonderful technology with an infinity of benevolent applications.

I, for one, welcome it.

fucking incredible. Can I just learn by installing something into my brain, now? No more grueling studies?

so how do they prove it ?

this is typical magic trick the other guy is just acting.

>> No.5995913

So, I guess I didn't really understand what was happening?

Two guys play the same game at the same time.
They are on different locations.
One guys sees the enemy, shoots it.
Other guy has his eyes covered.
computer scans brain of guy one, checks that he moves his hand to shoot, and sends a signal to other guy.
other guy receives signal, his brain make his hand move. he also shoots the enemy.

is this it, or am I wrong?

Err, the guy on the other end is just hooked up to a TMS wand. TMS has been around since the mid 80's. The twitch is caused by an electromagnetic pulse given roughly over the area of the motor cortex. It's incredibly crude and can only really produce minor twitches of the hand purely because the areas dedicated to that movement are so large in the motor cortex.

The fact that it's controlled by an ECG machine is no more impressive than if it were controlled by a TV remote control, telling the wand to give a pulse. There is no control as such.

Lame.

*Continued
All this project has done is swap the foot pedal for the TMS with an EEG machine.

(above post is supposed to say EEG btw. I worked on a few projects with TMS but now I'm in medicine so I accidentally wrote ECG as I use the term all day, every day and EEG very rarely).

How does it get the guy to move his finger and not some other part controlled by the motor cortex if it's so crude?

>> No.5996109

>>5995801
Yawn, nothing new here, just using TMS triggered by EEG. Boring
>>5995877
More likely this will be used to treat schizophrenia, you schizo.

Of course, you could also use it to turn off parts of a person brain so that they are much more likely to commit crimes of their own accord.

The chance of this is low and regardless I'm excited. FUCK YEAH, science bitches!

I just told you. The area dedicated to movements of the hand is so vast that statistically, you're much more likely to hit those regions. The same goes for areas dedicated to the face if you move the wand more laterally.

It certainly wouldn't be able to produce coordinated movements. Only sudden, brief twitches.

So what. I've invented a brain to body to body to brain interface!!!

All I need to do is think of moving my index finger and I can make your muscles twitch and vocal chords vibrate.

Yeah that was my first impression too.
Looks more like a flashy toy experience for fun than a real progress of any sort.
