Say you can buy a liter of 80 proof Vodka for $10 or 100 proof Vodka for $15.

Assuming I had perfect control over how much I drank and would stop drinking once my BAC reached 0.10, which bottle would be more cost-effective?

>> No.5969432

The 80 proof, because for $15 you could buy 120 proofs.

Way to ignore the first part. Obviously I'd buy 120 proof for $15 if the store had it.

>> No.5969445

Depends.
If you need exactly 1l of alcohol to reach your BAC of 0.1, then the 100 proof vodka is the better choice.

I'm just going to go ahead and say that it's probably linear.

>>5969586
yes it fucking is. not for the alcohol, but for the fact that it is marginally less shitty and you will feel less horrible in the morning.
nothing good can ever come out of drinking a $10 bottle of vodka.
>>5969620
if you want to be technical about it, no, of course it isnt, if you have twice as much volume in your stomach with the same amount of alcohol your body is going to take longer to fully metabolize the larger volume, by the time the last of it enters your bloodstream your liver will already have started to process the first of it and you will be marginally less drunk

but for all practical intents and purposes, as long as you are drinking the same amount of alcohol, in the same type of beverage (ie both are liquor rather than beer, both are shots rather than mixed drinks), with roughly the same amount of non-alcoholic drink consumption for chasers/mixers, yes, you can treat it as a linear function

the liter of 80 proof for $10 is more economical cause you're getting 8 proofs for every dollar as opposed to 6.6 proofs for every dollar for the liter of 100 proof for $15. So you could buy 120 proofs for $15 when 8 proofs cost $1.

All depends on the amount of liquid in each. If they're both the same amount, lets make it easy and say 1L, then...
For 10 dollars you're getting 40% alcohol or 400mL of alcohol.
This situation is .025$/mL
For 15 dollars you're getting 50% alcohol or 500mL of alcohol.
This situation is .03$/mL

If they have the same amount of liquid get the $10 one.
