Funny enough, it's been shown that our cultures have some effect on our cognition.

Some peoples in africa, when shown these images, immediately figured them out and could not figure out for the life of them why we considered this an illusion. They could immediately see that these were the same length.

It was actually linked to the geomtery they used to build their houses, odly enough, in seeing these angles for long enough they could completely ignore the optical illusion.
