Has anyone here been published? How do you deal with it?

>> No.5914002

you're paying them to get published?

wicked.

I haven't paid anyone. Right now I'm window shopping.

>> No.5914019

either your boss pays for it with his grant money or you find a journal without costs. sometimes the university has got a contract with one associated journal for reduced costs. or you get a rich student to pay for it with his amex account as a bribe, but that's kinda illegal and will get you into trouble.

Those journals are basically scams. Your supervisor will know the drill and what journal is most appropriate.

I've published, but its the University and your prof's grants that pay for this stuff. How are you publishing an article independently?

it's not that uncommon. I'm doing it, too. Not all people have luxury lives with paid positions. Grant money is a bitch.

Just throw it on the arxiv and call it a day. Fuck publishers.
