Yeah, Newton synthesised the ideas of others, bu also discribed most of a physics known to him in two equations (F=ma and F=G Mm/r^2) and that's something. In his time, the only thing he didn't understand was, as he said, that the universe exists, but it shouldn't according to the laws of mathematics and physics.


Einstein on the other hand was a great thinker. He hasn't concentrated on the mathematical side of physics, but was mostly thinking on "simple" things like what is the speed of light (despite it being known already) or a stone falling in an elevator and then coming to conclusions that changed the sience world.

The single thing that makes him genius is that he invented general relativity. Go ahead, try to fully understand it.
