The OP is b8, but Grace Hopper was actually quite a big deal. It's not about COBOL being a "great language", it's about compilers, machine independet code, debugging, testing procedures, and much much more. She's pretty much the mother of modern programming.

Emmy Noether, Marie Curie, and Grace Hopper is really all there is.

I think a lot can be said about that fact that there EXISTS this kind of stuff. Women have to search far an wide to find great innovators in STEM-heavy fields.

There will always be outliers and exceptions to rules -- these few women are such.
