ITT: Post people with no understanding of science who you see around the internet.

Pic related, this girl goes to my school and this was on some shitty anonymous ask-answer website called ask.fm.

Neither have a future in science. Its sad kiddy winks never see all the hard mathematical work behind principles they believe they understand.

>> No.5804791

I don't have a print screen but I know people who study history and sociology and shit, who like 'I fucking love science' on facebook and think that makes them intelligent.

They link each other websites which have very loose use of quantum mechanics which 'proves that satan is real'.

They also discuss Schrödinger's cat and make reference to it when they have no real understanding of basic mechanics, let alone quantum theory.

i was reading this post on some forum earlier explaining how black holes are just stars that lose light, and because of that, our sun can lose all its light and combine with the moon to destroy us.

Some years ago I was reading a thread on a maths forum where the OP believed continuous and Lebesgue integrable implied f(x) --> 0 as x ---> infinity.

I've been racking my brain all day trying to think of an equation to match this problem, but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out even what kind of model to use.

Essentially, what I'm trying to make is an equation that generates a chance based on a difference between two "levels." For example, if there is no level difference, the chance is 9%. If there is a level difference of 1, the chance is 8% (these numbers don't actually work, but that's the idea.)

The parameters I feel like I want to fit the equation to are these: within a 10 level difference, the total chance should be 90%. Within a 20 level difference, the total chance should be 99%, within a 30 level difference, the total chance should be 99.9%, going on like that. I'm having trouble coming up with a formula that generates sums like that, though. Any advice?
