A man sick with influenza is trapped in a small room for 12 hours breathing in the air. There is a very small window for ventilation just enough so the man won't suffocate. There is an air conditioner but it is not used.

After the 12 hours the man is removed from the room and another man is immediately shut in the room. This man is completely healthy. The small window is still open.

What would happen if the man turned on the air conditioner?

Would it:
A) Increase his chances of getting sick?
B) Decrease his chances of getting sick?
C) Have no effect?

The answer is most certainly A. There is little doubt that some form of saliva or mucus from the sick man would be distributed throughout the room, because influenza involved coughing and sneezing. This would spread the virus to the dust in the room, which would be agitated by the air conditioner and circulated throughout the room. No doubt, the healthy man would breathe in this dust, or it would get into his eyes, and he would become sick.
