What the fuck /sci/, why people are this retarded? after the exchange with this person I am tripping balls. She's just borderline batshit insane, yet seems a perfectly normal human. I mean, look at her videos posted as "proof" of... something?

Between this and people asking for bullshit books at work (bookstore employee) such as spiritual healing, quantum medicine, I am starting to lose faith in the intelligence human race.

Tell me there's still hope.

You know the quote/law along the lines of 'The stupidest are the most assured of their own intelligence'.
The people who actually understand medicine or at least realize muhquantums is a scam outnumber the quantum idiots.

OP there is a pretty good correlation between believing in magical bullshit like that and having schizophrenia. So don't lose faith in humanity, lose faith in schizophrenics.

Nope. Nothing is being lost in transalation. The point is, science never 'proves' anything. Newton didn't 'prove gravity'... Einstein didn't 'prove' relativity.
People try to explain the world through observation and experimentation... no one tries to 'prove' anything.

>> No.5733379

Spiritual healing - yeah, I'd like a word on that....

I'm not going to defend those who claim they can cure cancer and mend broken bones by 'laying on hands'.

Instead, I ask you to think about the placebo effect. How does it work? What are it's limitations? And just why does it exist at all?

What is the placebo effect if not 'thinking makes it so'? At least to the degree that our experiments have to bend over backwards to and jump through flaming hoops to eliminate it from our results.

And just what is 'faith healing' if not 'thinking makes it so'? One is clearly an exaggeration of the other, but that does not mean the whole of it is pure bunk.

Oh, come on. You can be anal about it and say nothing is totally certain, blah blah, but most people will understand what you mean if you say "Newton proved his theory on gravitation". Besides, that is not what I meant with "scientific proof".
