I enjoy chemistry and biology a lot, but the paperwork and research efforts not spent doing shit in the lab is no fun. In the words of Gale Boetticher

"I was on my way—jumping through hoops, kissing the proper behinds, attending to all the non-chemistry that one finds oneself occupied with. You know that world. That is not what I signed on for. I love the lab—because it's all still magic, you know? Chemistry? I mean, once you lose that...."

Computer science is intuitive for me. I'm good at it. I spent 5 hours today dickering around with a fiber channel SAN for funsies. I've publishes peer reviewed research as an undergrad. I'm the head of my classes and have sway in the department.

It's good to be on top.

probability theory is a huge part of Stats and consequently measure theory is used to unify discrete and continuous probability functions, it also covers distributions that are neither discrete nor continuous nor mixtures of the two.

So yes, measure theory is an important part of any competent Statisticians tool box.

That's just not true. Here in the Netherlands, tuition is around $17k annually on average ($15.4k of which is paid by the government if you're Dutch and don't have a degree at that level), which means you should be capable of earning enough money with a part-time job to continue studying part-time indefinitely, if you're willing to move to the Netherlands.

And don't worry about not speaking Dutch; all non-crap graduate programs and quite a few undergraduate programs are English. Hell, here at the UvA graduates don't even have the option of Dutch language graduate or post-graduate courses.

I will agree with you that chemical engineering doesn't deal too much with chemicals.

However, I feel you've got a skewed perspective of ChemE jobs. Yes some of the shitter, more redundant jobs are like that.

Personally, I'm a ChemE and I'm working with jet engines. Deals with a lot of materials + process engr. -- optimizing the fuels and components used to produce the parts, etc. I also get to travel about once a month to run audits on our suppliers. Pay is decent and job is pretty interesting.
