I really loathe how these web comic artists think their baby tier level of scientific and mathematical knowledge makes them witty.

I once saw a xkcd comic glued to a wall in ESO, along with several shitty physics jokes (e.g. "I'm positive"), so I don't think being loathsome keeps them from having readers.

I really loathe how your incidental accumulation of knowledge made possible by a supportive family and society as well as other countless factors beyond your control have turned you into a cocky, insufferable sleezebag who will accept nothing short of "incredibly complex and tedious to understand" as "witty."

Maybe your opinion would be justified if "babbies" were actually born with this knowledge in their head, and half the world weren't impoverished.

not the anon you're arguing with, but that cartoon isn't very funny, and lots of jokes based just on recognition of something not generally know (in this case freshman math) are hardly jokes at all.

I didn't think it was very funny either.

But the one thing more annoying than a bad joke, is a person who takes pleasure in boasting of how educated they are, as though it were all their doing alone, and not the collective efforts of countless people they have taken for granted, and countless past events which could have very well not happened.

But I suppose the one thing more annoying than that is people who give them attention by crusading against them.

Oh, will it ever end?

You're just as bad as mathrock fags who think that if the music doesn't have a constant solo then it's not worth listening to.

you talk too much.

the point being, these kinds of jokes based on recognition of a concept basically are meant to work because only certain people will get them, thus making them feel like a part of something. these 'jokes' in themselves are sort of a circlejerk.

i think what anon was complaining about is that the subject of this comic isn't even anything especially worthy of flaunting your knowledge over because it's pretty basic. which leaves the comic both pretentious AND not particularly intelligent.
