Question:

Doing homework or some intense mental activity with chronic insomnia will destroy brain (kill brain cells). Is this true? I feel extremely exhausted all of the time, mentally and physically. I've had insomnia for 4 months already. It began when I was 17 (I am now 18). I've posed a question once before here regarding the possibility of irreversible brain damage from chronic insomnia. I'd like to hear either from an informed person or a neurologist.

Essentially my question is this: I do task that requires an immense amount of brainpower, but I have chronic insomnia (loss of concentration, overwhelming drowsiness, confusion). Will it permanently damage my brain doing this task?

No. It will build up your bran muscles.

>Doing homework or some intense mental activity
Homework != intense mental activity

Ask a doctor, fag. I don't have some shitty insomnia disorder for little bitches.

Where have I mentioned homework?

And don't insult me. But I figure you're senselessly insulting to somehow compensate for your insecurities (like not being funny or something similar).

>No. It will build up your bran muscles.

Are you sure? With insomnia?

It's your fault for being inferior.

Yeah I'm an idiot for that mistake, but still there's no reason to insult a person for asking a question

>> No.5689666

So do any of you have any info on chronic insomnia? I'm sorry for any mistakes I make. Please take into account that I don't have any medical coverage and I have a difficult time paying attention to detail at the moment, typing these posts. It's really ruining my life.

>but still there's no reason to insult a person for asking a question

Are you sure there was no reason? Did he need a reason? You chose to be insulted the moment you responded to his potential insult.

Can we please stay on topic?

Try sleeping. Don't give me bullshit about insomnia. Lay down in a bed. Shut your eyes until you fall asleep. If you think you wont be able to fall asleep, stay there for hours.

Does anyone have any answers to my question?

You have not slept for 4 months?

Yes, you are causing damage to your brain. Even if you aren't doing "intense mental activity" you are harming your brain.

Have you tried contacting a medical professional?

>> No.5689702

>>5689695

Yes I have. But will doing "intense mental activity" worsen the condition meaning will it kill brain cells or something of that sort? And can I recover to my original performance capacity after this ordeal?

>> No.5689708

>>5689702

Honest question: are you on ANY prescribed or illegal drugs?

>> No.5689713

You already damaged your brain from sleep deprivation.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16887278

>> No.5689717

>>5689702
You cannot exactly control the "intensity" of your mental activity. You shouldn't be worried about worsening it rather you should be focusing on treatment if you are worried about brain damage. You will be able to recover if it is not that serious. Saying you are extremely exhausted is a pretty vague description. Have you experienced any hallucinations or extreme headaches, dizziness, nausea?

>> No.5689720

>>5689717

Extreme headaches and hallucinatinos yes.
Dizziness nausea no.
I experience major headaches on a daily basis now. It's in my temple areas.

>> No.5689737

>>5689720
Then to answer your question. YES you are harming your brain. I will ask again, have you talked with a medical professional? I am only assuming you care about your brain, so i would recommend you seek treatment. I cannot say whether or not you will have permanent brain damage.

ugh

You do not have insomnia. Stop watching tv, being on the computer, or dicking around on your phone when you are trying to sleep. Don't eat a big meal before bed. Stop being a depressed lose

Doctor here.
If you can't handle the stress while you're still in school i would recommend a 5 mg dose of An Hero to be taken immediately.
