I hate Physics 2.

There I said it.

I fucking hate it. It's fucking boring as shit.

All the labs are just plugging shit in and recording tiny variances in voltage.

I don't give a fuck about flux.

The professor just stands there and derives equations from the book for 2 hours.

I'm a ChemE major, will I ever need to calculate the magnetic flux through a solenoid?

I know that emotion. Labs suck so many fucking cocks, holy shit, 90% of it is fiddling with MS excel, or matlab or whatever.

whenver lectures are especially boring I just teach the material to myself from the book, which is going okay since im an undergrad pleb.

I feel you bro. I hate SO FUCKING MUCH THOSE FUCKING ELECTRICITY LABS. FUCKING BORING ASS NIGGER ENGINEER JOB.
And attending course pretty much=0 ; Better to get a book and start digging yourself

ChemE here, no you will never need E&M. The only reason you take physics is for fluid mechanics, thermo, and modern physics (schroedinger eqn, uncertainty etc, all for physical chemistry).

It's a waste of time

>Physics boring
>Not Chemistry
Purge the unclean
In all seriousness why does it seem like smart people tend to have an affinity for one but tend to dislike the other
Does anyone actually like both Physics and Chemistry?

OP here

I don't really know how to explain it.

My chem professors have been great. I love lab days. It just seems "different" from other maths/sciences.

My physics professors have been medicore, usually just deriving equations all day. Everything is just involves trying to deconstruct word problems so you can plug the values into a formula. Also the labs are always boring as fuck.

Chemistry doesn't give me a reason beyond "it's interesting" to study topology and other kinds of abstract math.

Chemistry always seemed like looking up tables and nothing else.

And it's pretty fun to make fun of people who don't know as much math as you but still know more math than "normal" people.

As a physics major, I agree. Unfortunately, the first few steps in studying physics are not at all glamorous, especially relative to some of the other sciences. However, the reward for sticking with it for me has been tremendous, and I would do it all again if I had to.

But how do you expect to quantise the electromagnetic field if you don't understand classical E&M?
And how will you do chemistry without QFT?

>> No.5672523

i'm doing a master degree in theoretical chemistry and it's nothing but quantum mechanics so you would have to know all of those to follow this path
electromagnetism, linear algebra, differential equations, yeah magnetic flux too
